The
inception of Alberg Water Services
occurred during the summer of
1994. Our water
development career began long
before that, beginning with
our father Charles in the mid-1950’s.
A large world-wide water development
organiziation called Layne included
a regional distributor/contractor
in Minneapolis. “Chuck” Alberg
rose in the ranks of the Minnesota
company to the president’s chair
in the late 80’s. Steve joined
that company in the late 70’s,
soon followed by his brother
Greg in 1980. Layne offered
sales, service and wholesale
distribution of Layne &
Bowler pump products. Additionally
the company contracted large
municipal, commercial and industrial
wells throughout the upper midwest.
Even water treatment plants,
turbine boosters and chemical
feed equipment was thrown into
the mix. Exposure to all of
these areas of business complimented
the wide-ranging talents of
the Albergs.
In
1994, as Chuck prepared for
retirement, the boys hatched
a plan to move all well and
pump operations out of Minneapolis.
We couldn’t let Chuck wander
off into the sunset. An agreement
was created in which Chuck would
retain the well and pump operations
in exchange for the retirement
package he would have recieved.
Soon, business was up and running
from a new facility near Elk
River Minnesota. The name had
become Alberg Water Services.
Not long after the move, we
expanded services to include
smaller installations. Today,
much of our work serves residential
well owners. We quickly point
out that our roots are still
back in the “big stuff”. We
continue to welcome inquiries
and provide services to every
application that is water related.
More
recent changes include our relocation
to Annandale Minnesota, and
the passing of Chuck in 2003.
We miss him dearly, but his
professionalism, respectability
and experience lives on with
the boys.
